Homemade: Mackerel fish with choi sum

What to do for Sunday dinner? I’m a bit clueless in the kitchen but I do know that I love me some mackerel, so I picked up 2.5 frozen filets from the Park n’ Shop. Defrosted ’em, dusted them with some seafood rub and then threw them in a pan with some oil and water to steam/fry/cook for about 10 minutes. The result: Moist, fleshy filets of seasoned mackerel…SUCCESS!


On the side, I rinsed a package of choi sum and then threw it in a pot of boiling water. One tiny little bug floated to the surface (looked a bit like a male ladybug; instead of being red and black, he was brown and black), so I scooped him away and rummaged through the rest of the veggies for more unwanted bits of “protein”. Threw a little salt in the water and then the veggies were cooked and ready to go!


The final result was pretty good and filling, and I saved 1.5 filets plus half of the choi sum for another day. The thing is, I don’t have a microwave…so I have no idea how I am going to reheat this thing…
