Asian vegetarian cuisine at Veg 6 (六和素食)

Chinese vegetarian food can be really starchy sometimes, with lots of wheat gluten replacements for meat and fried dishes that can weigh you down.

One restaurant that’s not like that at all is Veg 6 in Causeway Bay, located right by the Canal Road flyover. The menu is focused on Chinese and Japanese dishes like sushi, fried rice and noodles, soups and salads and most of it is delicious!

Here’s a sampling of what’s on the menu:

Hand-shredded sesame “chicken”

Veggie soft shell crab roll

Sweet and sour “pork”
20161027_210840
Veggie mince “meat” lettuce wrap

The sushi is a MUST(!!) while the lettuce wrap is just OK — it’s got a bit too much celery and beefy flavour for my liking.

They also have desserts on the menu like papaya with white fungus, poached pear in osmanthus and other jelly-like puddings.

Give it a try if you’re looking to go vegetarian (part-time or fully) — it’s a great Meatless/Green Monday option!
