5 fat-blasting YouTube workouts to do during lockdown

Healthy HKG YouTube Workouts Covid

With the third wave of COVID-19 in full swing (and Hong Kong gyms closed again, at least until July 23), it’s time to make the most out of working out at home again. Luckily, we’ve had plenty of time since COVID-19 came into our lives to scour the Internet for workout videos. Some were obviously better (read: more effective) and more fun than others, so here are a few of our favourites so far:

Strong Nation

When we heard this was related to Zumba, we had our hesitations (as we never felt like dancing gave us a hard-enough workout), but this video by Strong Nation (formerly known as STRONG by Zumba) really gets your heart pumping with HIIT moves and plenty of action. In just 30 minutes, follow Strong Nation master trainer, Ai Lee, as she guides you through each musically-synced move without ever missing a breath.

Hip Hop Fit by Michael Peele

Led by Michael Peele (no relation to Jordan Peele), Hip Hop Fit is a dance workout that gets you moving and sweating to the hottest hip hop beats. Based in LA, Michael breaks down each move into small steps that just about anyone can handle, then slowly stacks them on top of each other so that by the end of the workout, you’ll be dancing hip hop like a pro.

Fatburn Extreme HIIT by Defin8

Don’t be fooled – this 20-minute workout may be short, but it is definitely not sweet. We have no idea how Trixie (owner of Hong Kong’s boutique fitness studio, Defin8) manages to keep smiling and full of energy all the way through the workout, but it definitely left us a sweaty mess on the floor. Tip: Check out Defin8’s other Fatburn Extreme HIIT videos on YouTube and cycle through for some variety.

Mylee Dance Workout

From her dance studio in Korea, Mylee has created a bunch of seriously fun dance workouts to the latest billboard hits, including this super cute (not too intimidating) choreography to Justin Bieber’s “Yummy.” Who knew that eating noodles could become a dance move? Check Mylee out for more sweat-inducing dance cardio workouts on YouTube.

Chloe Ting workout

With 12 million followers and counting, self-made YouTube fitness influencer, Chloe Ting, has been posting different workouts and challenges for her fans to follow, with jaw-dropping (and very enviable) results! See what all the fuss is about by trying one or more of Chloe’s fat-blasting workouts – which are simple, easy-to-follow, but definitely not easy – and commit to doing them regularly to see the results for yourself.
