Ahola poke bowls in Quarry Bay

Now that I work in Quarry Bay, I’ll be exploring the healthy (mostly lunch) options in the area and so far, there seem to be lots!

One of them is Aloha Hong Kong, a shop selling Hawaiian poke bowls that’s strikingly similar to Pololi in Central/Sheung Wan/Wanchai.

Serving fresh, healthy cuisine around the world, ALOHA brings in a fun way of light eating for the busy life, inspired by the healthy, simple lifestyle of Islanders around the world. – Aloha Hong Kong

Everything from the colourful walls and interior design, paper bowls, tuna flavours, etc. bear a close resemblance to its competitor. And the concept of choosing white rice, brown rice and/or salad with 2 toppings is also quite similar.

The difference? Whereas Pololi staff weigh the amount of fish in your bowl, Aloha does not and gave me quite a hefty portion for lunch. They also have more add-on options like quinoa, avocado, boiled egg and tofu whereas at Pololi, they have add-ons like spam musubi and poke patties.

I usually polish off a poke bowl from Pololi in no time but with Aloha I had plenty of fish leftover for an afternoon snack. Bowls at Pololi start at HK$90 and HK$80 at Aloha, but they charge extra for salmon and shrimp options.

Aloha also have partnered with Arnz Fitness Movement for a series of outdoor workouts in the area called ‘Sweat & Surf’ where you’ll also get a lunch from Aloha for just HK$190. I’d do it but where would I shower?? Sweat stench and a fishy lunch just doesn’t sound like the best combination in 35C weather… 🙁

Anyway, try Aloha if you haven’t already!
