For those trying to eat healthy, it’s best to avoid places that can tempt you to do otherwise (ie. yummy pizza joints like Pizzeria Pubblico). But, what else can you do when all your pizza-lovin’ friends want to gather for some authentic New York Italian “pie”?
There’s not much on the menu at Pizzeria Pubblico for the health-conscious, as the place pretty much ONLY serve pizzas and subs. There are, however, two salads on the menu: Caesar and ‘insalata mercato fresca’ which is pretty much a green salad (priced at HK$60 — that’s more than a slice of pizza btw).
Here it is in all its low-cal glory:
What’s inside:Β Mixed lettuce, cherry tomatoes, red cabbage(?), a few slices of red onion, and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.
To be honest, it was a pretty decent salad as the balsamicΒ vinaigrette was really aromatic and the salad leaves were thoroughly dressed. Plus, all of it is organic and ‘homegrown’ (since the restaurant group sources from local farms in Hong Kong), giving the salad a much softer feel and a fresher taste than most other places.
So, while not very filling, I do recommend the insalata mercato fresca at Pizzeria Pubblico! Just make sure you grab something else for a snack afterwards, because you’ll definitely need it!
