New Year, New Me

Hello and happy near year to whoever’s reading this out there! I’ve always treated Healthy Hong Kong as a sort of personal diary of my “healthy”Β endeavorsΒ in Hong Kong — I use quotation marks because compared to real health nuts, I’m totally unhealthy (over the past year I ate tons of chicken wings, chocolate chip cookies, egg tarts, milk tea and a bunch of other junk on the side, albeit undocumented) — but it’s so nice to know that there are people out there who actually appreciate the blog! Thank you guys for the support. πŸ˜‰

I want an edible arrangement! :)

Mmm, edible arrangements!

Since starting this blog, I’ve realised that it’s definitely not easy being healthy in Hong Kong, first because there’s so much temptation around us, and second, being healthy always makes you the freak of the group. Let’s face it, most people in Hong Kong wanna eat whatever the hell they want, when they want. The last thing they think about is whether it’s healthy — as long as it tastes good, they’re eating it. Many of them can eat as much as they want without even gaining a bit of weight too.

For the rest of us, eating healthy is not only a way to prevent yourself from turning into a giant fatass (which, if you’re from overseas, is probably the nickname your local colleagues have already given you) — eating healthy is also a lifestyle that many people actually enjoy (me included — to be honest, I’d take a fruit basket over a muffin basket any day…)!

So for 2013, I’m happy to say that I’ll be taking my healthy habits even further by cutting out meats (which I’ve being doing since November 2012 — beef, pork, lamb, chicken, etc.), trying more raw foods and doing way more yoga, running and BodyPump. How about you?

What are your health resolutions for 2013?Β
