If you’re a fan of the Chinese five green juice but in the mood for something sweeter and smoother, why not try the ABC(G) juice? Made with apple, beet, carrot and the added option of ginger, it’s the perfect drink to boost your immune system.

Beets are a great source of fibre and include manganese, potassium, iron, vitamin C and folate (for vitamin B9), and the benefits of drinking beet juice include lowered blood pressure, increased stamina for exercise, cancer prevention, liver support and more – so fill up on this tasty red juice anytime!

Just a note: beet juice shouldn’t be drank on its own (straight) as beets are high in oxalic acid and can result in side effects like hives, chills, fever and stomach upset. Plus, they taste much better when mixed with other juiced fruits or vegetables.

ABC (apple, beetroot, carrot) juice recipe

To make beet juice, it’s ideal to use a high-quality juicer such as a Vitamix or Kuvings juicer.


  • 1 beetroot, medium-sized with stalk removed
  • 3 carrots, medium-sized
  • 2 apples, large
  • 1 piece of ginger (1-2 inches long), optional

Wash and chop all ingredients, then place in a bowl. Feed through your juicer, filter with a fine sieve into a pitcher, and serve immediately. Store the rest in an airtight container in the fridge for a max of 1-2 days. Enjoy!
