Hybrid HIIT class at Hybrid MMA review:
Located on the 13/F of Entertainment Building in Central, Hybrid MMA is a clean, modern and spacious gym for people who are serious about their training regimes.
There’s a large area for MMA (mixed martial arts), a weight training area and special section for their group classes, which is where we tried out one of their HIIT classes.
The class began with a few warm-up exercises, which included crunches and crab walks with a resistance band around our legs. We then moved on to two rounds of involving the Airdyne bike, bear crawls and sprints on the Woodway treadmill (a self-powered, curved treadmill that allows you to accelerate and decelerate quickly).
The last circuit had us rowing, holding a plank and doing another set on the Airdyne bike for two rounds. Finally, we finished off with two lengths of the prowler (aka. sled push) along the Hybrid MMA turf.
Verdict
You’ll like this class if: you want to be pushed hard at your workouts and enjoy circuit training with different stations and lots of variety
You might not like this class if: you aren’t that fit to begin with and find it hard to keep up (although that might be great motivation to give it a go)!
Gym facilities: Very nice locker room with bronzed wall of lockers, strong showers, supplied towels, and even GHD styling tools!
Good to know: Hybrid MMA’s group classes range from Hybrid HIIT, Strength and Power, Strength and Cardio, Hybrid Elite and Hybrid Mobility – all of which have different results including fat loss to increased strength and flexibility (see the full schedule).
