The rise of health coaches in Hong Kong

Potato or kale chips? Chocolate or carrot sticks? Sometimes, making the healthier choice can be hard … especially if you’ve got no clue (or care) what’s better for you.

For those who do want to live healthier lives, having a guide can definitely help. And in a city as frazzled and fast-paced as Hong Kong, where the streets are lined with gluttonous junk food, it’s no wonder that there’s been a sudden rise in the number of health coaches offering their services. But what exactly do they do?

Health coaching is a process that facilitates healthy, sustainable behaviour change by challenging a client to develop their inner wisdom, identify their values, and transform their goals into action. – Wikipedia

I recently wrote an article for Liv magazine to introduce six health coaches in Hong Kong (in no particular order):

1. Mia Rappaport of The RASA Life

In one line: Mia is the founder of The RASA Life, an online healthy living community fueled by coaching and cleanses.

What’s cool: The cleanses for brides! (Wish we knew about this pre-wedding…!)

2. Tatiana Kuvardina of Your Wellness Path

In one line: Tatiana specialises in mind-body nutrition and proper eating habits. After all, what and how you eat say a lot about who you are.

What’s cool: The healthy kitchen makeover! (Nooo, not my Nutella…!)

3. Judy Xu of Balance Health

In one line: A mix of East and West, Judy combines Chinese Medicine with integrative medicine to help her clients achieve optimal health.

What’s cool: Judy can read your Akashic Records to help bring your past and future into the Now (prepare to go deep!)

4. Paloma Gerber

In one line: Paloma was an art student in Paris before moving back to her hometown of Hong Kong, where she now teaches the art of healthy living.

What’s cool: Most programs are four months long and totally customised.

5. Karen Holt of The Health Seed Concept

In one line: Leaving behind a career in fashion retail, Karen now works with personal and corporate clients on improving their health and is a big believer in getting in harmony with nature.

What’s cool: Karen’s also a yoga teacher (check her FB page for class updates).

6. Cristina Rodenbeck of Ignition Coaching

In one line: A former advertising executive, Cristina is an International Coach Federation (ICF) accredited health coach who has been working with clients worldwide for 11 years.

What’s cool: Cristina uses Iridology (iris reading!), Bach Flower Remedy and Crystal Healing therapies to help clients restore balance.
