Buying organic fruits and vegetables can be quite tricky in Hong Kong, where most of the produce we get is either imported from China or some other faraway country where we have no idea whether it’s truly organic (or just labelled that way to charge more).
You could go to a high-end supermarket like city’super to make sure you’re getting officially certified organic produce, but if you’re more likely to shop at your local wet market and don’t want to spend a fortune on organic produce, here’s a nifty (and super cute) cheat sheet that shows which fruits and vegetables have the most pesticides and are worth buying organic:

The ‘Dirty Dozen’ refers to the 12 most contaminated fruits and vegetables to avoid eating, and the ‘Clean 15’ are the fruits and vegetables that are lowest in pesticides. For more information, see the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce.

Thanks for your tips,
I try my best to buy organic if I eat the fruit/veggie with its skin (e.g~ apple),
but I go inorganic for thick-skinned veggie/fruits (e.g~orange) coz organic food are quite expensive for me!

Great Post and Thanks for Sharing Erica!
Have you or anyone (readers? =p) out there been into the practice of using a sea salt water bath for your fruits and vegetables?

I use sea salt water bath for vegetables which are more difficult to wash, e.g. broccoli.
