Most set lunches in Hong Kong are carb-laden — meaning they include a rice, spaghetti, or sometimes, both. That’s also the case at Das Gute, a bakery/cafe in Sheung Wan with set lunch options like taco rice and pan-fried halibut with angel hair pasta.
To make it less heavy, just ask the servers to skip the rice/pasta/fries and ask for extra veggies. No guarantee that they’ll say yes, but based on my one-time experience, they didn’t put up a fuss when I asked for no pasta (you’d be surprised at how many people do!).
The result is a light and relatively healthy carb-free meal at about HK$80, complemented by a soup to start and coffee/tea to end. Enjoy! π
