5 healthy brunch spots in Sai Kung

Healthy HKG - Hong Kong brunch spots Sai Kung

Sai Kung is one of Hong Kong’s most sustainable and eco-friendly districts—and it also pays close attention to health and wellbeing. With a handful of some of the best al-fresco dining spaces in the city, the area is blessed with beachside and waterfront settings for a laid-back atmosphere. We round up five of our favourite healthy brunch spots in Sai Kung for a moment outdoors.

2084

Vegan and vegetarian restaurant 2084 is a relaunch from its previous tapas concept, Casa. Situated in Sai Kung’s “square”, the dining space is part al-fresco for a breath of fresh air. The idea is to promote delicious and nutritious plant-based cuisine using internationally-inspired recipes to tap into different taste buds, from Indian curries to Middle Eastern falafels. Visitors young and old come here to try the delightful menu which celebrates vegan dishes in all its glory. Try the Peking tacos and momos—they’re a must.

Little Cove

Although Little Cove is frequented by many locals, it’s the city folk who are the regulars, coming into the countryside for a coffee break. The cafe is an Instagrammer’s paradise, boasting floor to ceiling white walls with an aesthetically-pleasing dose of plant pots scattered around. Most of the ingredients are organic and clean, using fresh fruits and veggies wherever possible. The menu ranges from avocado on toast to Mediterranean-inspired salad bowls. As a healthy brunch spot in Sai Kung, Little Cove caters to most palettes, but the smoothie bowls and breakfasts (smoked salmon on toast) are best for healthy brunch seekers.

The Picture House

Seemingly a pub from the outside, The Picture House is in fact much cooler than it looks. Named after the area which was previously a picture house (or cinema as we call it now), the restaurant and gastropub is still popular for its drinks, but serves a tasty brunch menu on the weekends. Health-conscious diners can choose the avocado, poached egg, and kale on toasted sourdough or the chunky granola with fresh fruit, yogurt and honey. Dine here for a bit of open-air, fresh comfort food.

The Conservatory

Another quaint eatery in Sai Kung’s square, The Conservatory is a Mediteranean-inspired eatery serving delectable tapas in the evenings, and a delicious breakfast in the mornings, from eggs to bread to cereals. The menu is packed with healthy plates, but some of our favourite brunch options include the Scottish salmon benedict and the melted brie and mushrooms on toast.

BAKSO

It’s no surprise that Balinese food resonates with healthy eating from its famed smoothie bowls to the flavoursome noodles in soup—all freshly made in-store and served hot and juicy. BAKSO is a healthy brunch spot in Sai Kung that pays tribute to its Indonesian roots and serves fresh noodle bowls and smoothies in a trendy, surfer-inspired setting. The venue also hosts wellness classes for their teammates including daily pilates.
