Rotisserie chicken and salad at Chicken On The Run

Let’s get this out of the way: I. LOVE. CHICKEN!! πŸ˜€ Fried chicken the most, but rotisserie chicken comes in at a close second. Mmm…

It was Debbie from Crave Magazine that first told me about Chicken On The Run along the Mid-levels Escalator in SoHo (above Caine Road). You can’t miss it as you walk up the steps — just follow your nose to the smell of freshly herbed and roasted chicken.

There’s a nice takeaway counter once you enter with homemade dishes like lasagne, mashed potatoes, chili, meatballs and the like for takeaway, plus a salad bar on the left side and roast chicken that you can buy by the quarter, half or full.

For lunch, I usually get the quarter chicken (HK$44) and a medium salad (HK$55) which is quite a lot. They also have a so-called ‘healthy meal’ with a quarter chicken plus mashed potato and gravy but don’t expect to swap out the potato for something else — I’ve tried and they’re pretty strict about it.

The chicken breast is obviously the healthiest but be warned — it can be a bit dry. Just add ketchup!
