I never imagined I’d be eating at SOGO but when you’re shopping like a maniac (as most people in SOGO are — especially over Christmas break) with little time to spare, you take what you can get. Actually, to be honest, my mom’s friends raved about the waffles at UCC Cafe and patiently stood in line for a seat there, so it’s actually quite a popular dining destination, especially among locals!

Located on the 4/F of SOGO in between the two shopping areas, the UCC Cafe serves typical Japanese cafe foods like spaghetti in soup, sauteed spaghettis, cakes, waffles and their signature coffees. I spotted a few creamy and fruity parfaits on the desserts page as well, and noted them down for cheat days 😀

Anyway, I have to recommend the smoked salmon salad at UCC Cafe. Although there wasn’t a lot of salmon in the dish (just one little rosette in the middle), the vegetables were extremely fresh and crisp, including the iceberg lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes. You can choose between a thousand island dressing or sesame dressing (I opted for the latter), which was the perfect combination of light and saucy.

Unfortunately I didn’t get the price of the salad as my mom’s friends stole the bill, but I would guess around HK$60-80? So the next time you’re stuck in SOGO and need a healthy break, check it out!
